Natalia Komarova opened international cyber-tournament "Ugra Open"


The start of the first semi-final game of the international tournament on cybersport "Ugra Open" was given by the Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova.

The tournament took place within the framework of the International IT Forum with the participation of the BRICS and SCO countries.

Participants compete for the victory in "Dota2" and "FIFA-2018". Teams from Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Surgutsky district and Nizhnevartovsk fight in the first discipline. Representatives of Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, St. Petersburg, Surgut compete for leadership in individual games of football simulator. The prize for the first place in the discipline "Dota2" is 200 thousand rubles. The first place in "FIFA-2018" will receive 45 thousand rubles.

As part of the opening ceremony of the competition, Natalia Komarova visited the site of the tournament, located in the Ugra State University.

The organizers presented a team of the St. Petersburg federation of computer sports, the core of which is the students of the Polytechnic University, to the Head of the Region. Last season the team won the first all-Russian cybersport student league. After "Ugra Open" it will go to Moscow to participate in the grand finale of the second season of the league. According to the athletes, in the tournament they will have to compete with sufficiently strong rivals, but, nevertheless, they are aimed only at victory.

Cyber athletes from Surgut thanked Natalia Komarov for high level of organization of the event, an opportunity to meet with the strongest representatives of this sport on one platform.

In turn, the representatives of Guinea also expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a representative competition. "We are happy to be here. This is the first great international experience for us. Thanks to the organizers for the warm welcome in Ugra. The most comfortable conditions are created here, the rivals are very strong, but at the same time very interesting,” an athlete from Equatorial Guinea addressed the Head of the Region.

Participants from Nizhnevartovsk shared their own experience of developing e-sports in the city with the Governor, saying that at the moment the municipal federation includes citizens with disabilities, and that they increased number of computers to 100 since 2006.

Organizers told Natalia Komarova about the rules of the tournament, the game battles themselves. According to Artem Shchepotyev, President of the Computer Sport Federation of the Surgut district, despite such a representative set of participants - China, Mali, Equatorial Guinea, Ecuador, the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug could also show a high level in this tournament. "The teams of Ekaterinburg and the Surgut district were the first in cyber-battles, who fight for the final," he said. “In the main stage of the Ugra Open, 10 teams participated in Dota2 and 16 sportsmen in interactive football. 66 people in total.”

"It's not just games. This tournament has a training component, developing attention, speed of reaction, speed of decision-making among participants. We hope that this tournament will be a new step for development of computer sports in the Autonomous Okrug,” Artem Shchepotyev shared.
