Current trends of digital culture development to be discussed at IT Forum


Two sites of the IT Forum, the strategic session “Digital Culture” and the Interregional scientific and practical workshop “Problems of storage of electronic information", will be devoted to digital culture.

The organizers of the events are the Government of Yugra, Department of culture of the autonomous area, public and municipal institutions.

According to the acting director of the Department of culture of the autonomous area Irina Kibkalo, storage of electronic information is a new serious problem for both Russia and other countries, as well as for each organization and individual. “Volumes of electronic information and a variety of digital objects are growing, technologies and software solutions are rapidly changing, whereas reliability and durability of digital carriers do not match the requirements for long-term storage of information, and law enforcement in virtual space is not easy”, noted Irina Kibkalo.

How to ensure reliable and long-term storage of information in electronic form? And what is the role of authorities and different institutes? These are discussion topics for the workshop “Problem of storage of electronic information” to be attended by representatives of organizations in the field of culture, science, education, information technologies and communication, media and mass communications.

The moderator of the workshop is the vice-chairman of the Intergovernmental council and the Chairman of the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Program “Information for all”, the president of the Interregional center of library cooperation (Moscow) Evgeny Kuzmin.

A wider range of questions in the field of culture will be discussed at the strategic case session “Digital culture”. Participants will talk about how multimedia resources can increase the quality of communication, how to make cultural values more available to citizens with health limitations, how digital technologies can help with preserving of cultural heritage etc.

The profile case section will be attended by invited leading experts of museum and library community representing the Russian library association, President library named after B. N. Yeltsin, the State Public Scientific Technical Library of Russia, regions of Russia, and national libraries of China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Moreover, livebroadcast for participants of the fifth International professional forum “Book. Culture. Education” which will take place at the same time in the Crimea is planned in the form of a telephone conference.
